Tips For Buying A Generator
If you choose to buy a generator, make sure you get one that is capable of generating the amount of power that you think you will need. This can be done by going through the labels on lighting, appliances, and equipment that you plan to connect to the generator.
For lighting, the wattage of the light bulb indicates the power needed. Appliances and equipment have labels indicating the volume of power required by them.
Choose a generator that produces more power than that drawn by the combination of various electrical equipment you plan to connect to the generator including the initial surge required when it is turned on. If your generator does not produce adequate power for all your needs, plan to stagger the operating times for various equipment.
If you can not determine the amount of power that will be needed, take the help of your electrician to determine that for you. Remember, if your equipment draws more power than that produced by the generator, then you run the risk of blowing up a fuse on the generator or damaging the connected equipment.
